About Cynthia Olson, M.D. of Ascentia Wellness Clinic
I am a graduate of the University of Alberta Medical School. I did a 2 year Family Medicine Residency and have been practicing Family Medicine for over 25 years.
I became interested in Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy when the Women’s Health Initiative study showed just how dangerous the synthetic hormones we’d been prescribing were.
I found so many of my patients were in a conundrum where they could either risk some of the devastating side effects of conventional therapy, and maintain a productive life; or go off conventional hormone therapy, and feel fatigued, weak, and generally unwell.
They also risked losing the benefits of replacing their hormones. This led me on a search for an answer to this dilemma for both patient and physician.
I had an opportunity to spend a lot of time researching, reading, and learning about bioidentical hormones, and I have become very excited about having found this, both well researched and yet cutting edge therapy.
I’ve spent over 10 years in clinical practice of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, and am happy to say, I receive immense satisfaction from the increase of quality of life this therapy brings to my patients.
In my opinion this is one of the best times to be alive. We have come to a time in history where it’s not just your genetics and/or chance that will determine how long you will live, or how well you will live. – Cynthia Olson, M.D.
What is Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)?
A form of alternative medicine, Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) refers to the use of hormones that are molecularly identical with naturally-occurring hormones in hormone replacement therapy.
Our BHRT specialists assess the effect of long-term stress on the endocrine system and adrenal glands, and provide a personalized BHRT program to address imbalance.
